About 15 minutes in, theres a transmission at the top right about hostiles and incoming pirates. I didnt have nay ships left after pirates ravaged my last one, so I was just starting on working on a new large ship. I found this out when I had first started near a small station my friends had made. Or they might just randomly spawn when you're stationary in a spot for a long time, but I've only ever had them come when I'm floating around my station sector. Turrets on this current ship are also not armored, just the components exposed with enough shields on each that it doesnt matter - I really need to design larger, better looking turrets too.Īnd if you have a station, they randomly spawn to attack the station area. I have a friend whos gonna work with me on it tonight to make the bow look good. I might take a picture of my current ship if I get it looking alright - it's close, but I cant make the front of a ship to save my life - they're always a boxy front. Want to aim for 200k+ shields, at least 10 turrets on it's top deck, with additional ones on the sides and bottom for additional protection. I intend to have two docking bays inside for carrying the salvage barge I design in one and the scout and a proper fighter in the other. Next main design is going to be a true, heavy, massive capital ship. All I have to do when salvaging under the protection of the AI guns on it is sweat out the first few seconds of a pirate attack as the guns slew around and get a bead on the targets - then theres a very short ~5-10 seconds of fire and all enemy fighters are down, the salvage ship is still perfect, and my day goes on, with the addition of 4-8 more pirate craft to salvage before leaving the area I'm looking to redesign my salvage ship so I can dock it to the bottom of this battlecruiser - The range of fire and protection the cruiser provides is ridiculous. To take that amount of fire and not lose all shields, I was *impressed*. Takes a lot more than a normal pirate attack to beat trhough it - last time I was working on it before I added turrets, pirates showed up and 5 were attacking the ship, only got shields down to ~40k from 100 before my buddy showed up with a fighter to clear 'em - a good 30-45 seconds or so later. ~100k shields, and more than enough energy that it doesnt deplete even firing all weapons systems and maneuvering at full speed. Two SD-BB Tracking missile tubes - Large explosion radius, fast reload (10-15 seconds), not sure of damage done. One Main Battle Cannon - ~900M range, VERY fast fire rate, ~480 damage a shot. Two secondary battle cannon turrets - ~700M range, fast fire rate, ~220 damage a shot.įour tertiary AA cannons - ~550M range, fast fire, ~140 damage a shot. One main battle cannon turret, ~900M range, very fast fire, ~380 damage a shot. Has one tiny unarmed scout craft docked on the rear of the top deck near the top exit from the control room - to get supplies without bringing the main ship to shops or escape very quickly if needed. I call it a Battlecruiser, heavy armament but not the heaviest armor, and pretty spry for such a large ship. About 5 times the size of my previous design, and I would only class it as a medium Capital Ship - it's more than large enough to be a capital ship, but sure as hell not the largest you could go with the scale of the game engine. Spent last two days working on a new design, it's shaped like an older Aircraft Carrier, flat wide top, narrowing down the hull to a somewhat narrow bottom. Getting the scale of things in the game takes a bit of adjustment. I went into a fight with a pack of pirates, and that was all she wrote Clearly, this was not a battleship of the stars - barely even able to be called a tug it turns out! It's the size of pirate fighters!!!! I started making wha,t to my mind, was a battleship of the stars, heavy lasers, three rocket systems, large shield reserve and plenty of power. I started playing it after OP posted, and have been hooked.
